1 1 Section 1. Section 231B.1, subsection 4, Code 2003, is
1 2 amended to read as follows:
1 3 4. "Elder group home" means a single=family residence that
1 4 is a residence of a operated by a person who is providing
1 5 room, board, and personal care to three through five elders
1 6 who are not related to the person providing the service within
1 7 the third degree of consanguinity or affinity.
1 8 Sec. 2. Section 231B.2, subsection 2, paragraph c, Code
1 9 2003, is amended to read as follows:
1 10 c. An elder group home shall be owner=occupied, or owned
1 11 by a nonprofit corporation and occupied by a resident manager
1 12 staffed by an on=site manager twenty=four hours per day, seven
1 13 days per week. A resident manager shall reside in and provide
1 14 services for no more than one elder group home.
1 15 EXPLANATION
1 16 This bill provides that an elder group home is a single=
1 17 family residence operated by a person who provides room,
1 18 board, and personal care to tenants. Current law provides
1 19 that an elder group home is a single=family residence that is
1 20 the residence of the person providing the room, board, and
1 21 personal care services.
1 22 The bill also provides that rather than require the home to
1 23 be owner=occupied or occupied by a resident manager, the home
1 24 is to be staffed by an on=site manager 24 hours per day, seven
1 25 days per week.
