  1  1    Section 1.  Section 481A.122, Code 2003, is amended to read
  1  2 as follows:
  1  3    481A.122  DEER HUNTERS' AND FUR HARVESTERS' ORANGE APPAREL.
  1  4    A person shall not hunt deer with firearms unless the
  1  5 person is at the time wearing one or more of the following
  1  6 articles of visible, external apparel:  A a vest, coat,
  1  7 jacket, sweatshirt, sweater, shirt or coveralls, the color of
  1  8 which shall be solid blaze orange.  This section does not
  1  9 apply to a person hunting with firearms for wild turkey,
  1 10 squirrel, crow, pigeon, duck, or goose, or after sunset and
  1 11 before sunrise for fur=bearing animals.
  1 12                           EXPLANATION
  1 13    This bill requires a person hunting with a firearm to wear
  1 14 one or more items of blaze orange visible apparel when hunting
  1 15 for game except the following:  wild turkey, squirrel, crow,
  1 16 pigeon, duck, and goose.  Fur harvesters hunting fur=bearing
  1 17 animals with a firearm are also exempt from the requirement
  1 18 after sunset and before sunrise.
  1 19    A violator is subject to a scheduled fine of $50.
