  1  1    Section 1.  Section 321.20, Code 2003, is amended by adding
  1  2 the following new subsection:
  1  3    NEW SUBSECTION.  5A.  Verifiable information regarding
  1  4 financial liability coverage in effect for the motor vehicle,
  1  5 as required under section 321.20B.
  1  6    Sec. 2.  Section 321.40, Code 2003, is amended by adding
  1  7 the following new unnumbered paragraph:
  1  8    NEW UNNUMBERED PARAGRAPH.  When application is made for the
  1  9 renewal of a motor vehicle registration, the person in whose
  1 10 name the registration is recorded shall provide verifiable
  1 11 information regarding financial liability coverage in effect
  1 12 for the motor vehicle, as required under section 321.20B.
  1 13                           EXPLANATION
  1 14    This bill requires the owner of a motor vehicle, when
  1 15 registering or renewing registration for the motor vehicle, to
  1 16 provide verifiable information regarding financial liability
  1 17 coverage in effect for the motor vehicle.  Failure to provide
  1 18 such information would be grounds for refusal of the
  1 19 registration or renewal.
