  1  1    Section 1.  Section 322A.11, subsection 4, Code 2003, is
  1  2 amended by striking the subsection.
  1  3    Sec. 2.  EFFECTIVE DATE.  This Act, being deemed of
  1  4 immediate importance, takes effect upon enactment.
  1  5                           EXPLANATION
  1  6    This bill strikes a provision barring the consideration of
  1  7 a change in location of a motor vehicle dealership or the
  1  8 addition of an additional line=make to a motor vehicle
  1  9 dealership as good cause to prevent the termination,
  1 10 noncontinuation, or same line=make extension of a motor
  1 11 vehicle franchise.  The bill would allow a motor vehicle
  1 12 franchise to be terminated, discontinued, or prevented from
  1 13 expansion for the same line=make if a dealership moves to a
  1 14 similar or superior location within the same community or if
  1 15 the dealership adds an additional line=make at the
  1 16 dealership's current location.
  1 17    The bill takes effect upon enactment.
