3 27 c. Notwithstanding any provision of this section to the
3 28 contrary, the maximum gross weight allowed to be carried on a
3 29 noninterstate highway by a livestock vehicle with five axles,
3 30 a minimum distance in feet between the centers of the first
3 31 and fifth axles of sixty=one feet, and a minimum distance
3 32 between the two rear axles of at least eight feet and one inch
3 33 is eighty=six thousand pounds.
3 34 d. For the purposes of the maximum gross weight tables in
3 35 paragraphs "a", and "b", and "c", distance in feet is the
4 1 measured distance in feet between the centers of the extreme
4 2 axles of any group of axles, rounded to the nearest whole
4 3 foot.
4 4 Sec. 2. Section 321.463, subsection 8, Code 2003, is
4 5 amended to read as follows:
4 6 8. A vehicle or combination of vehicles transporting
4 7 materials to or from a construction project or commercial
4 8 plant site may operate under the maximum gross weight table
4 9 for interstate highways in subsection 5, paragraph "a", if the
4 10 route is approved by the department or appropriate local
4 11 authority. Route approval is not required if the vehicle or
4 12 combination of vehicles transporting materials to or from a
4 13 construction project or commercial plant site complies with
4 14 the maximum gross weight table for noninterstate highways in
4 15 subsection 5, paragraph "c" "b".
4 16 EXPLANATION
4 17 This bill amends the maximum gross weight tables for
4 18 vehicles on noninterstate highways to allow the same
4 19 tolerances for all vehicles or combinations of vehicles that
4 20 are allowed under current law for livestock and construction
4 21 vehicles only.
