  1 An Act providing for the addition of a volunteer emergency
  2    medical services provider on the emergency medical services
  3    advisory council.

  1  1    Section 1.  Section 147A.2, unnumbered paragraph 1, Code
  1  2 2003, is amended to read as follows:
  1  3    An EMS advisory council shall be appointed by the director.
  1  4 Membership of the council shall be comprised of individuals
  1  5 nominated from, but not limited to, the following state or
  1  6 national organizations:  Iowa osteopathic medical association,
  1  7 Iowa medical society, American college of emergency
  1  8 physicians, Iowa physician assistant society, Iowa academy of
  1  9 family physicians, university of Iowa hospitals and clinics,
  1 10 Iowa EMS association, Iowa firemen's association, Iowa
  1 11 professional firefighters, EMS education programs committee,
  1 12 EMS regional council, Iowa nurses association, Iowa hospital
  1 13 association, and the Iowa state association of counties.  The
  1 14 director shall appoint to membership on the council at least
  1 15 one provider of emergency medical services who provides such
  1 16 services on a volunteer basis.
  1 17                           EXPLANATION
  1 18    This bill provides for the addition of at least one
  1 19 individual who provides emergency medical services on a
  1 20 volunteer basis to membership on the emergency medical
  1 21 services advisory council established in Code section 147A.2.
