  1 An Act relating to county issuance of driver's licenses and
  2    nonoperator's identification cards by increasing the amount of
  3    the license fee retained by the county.

  1  1    Section 1.  Section 321M.9, subsection 1, Code 2003, is
  1  2 amended to read as follows:
  1  3    1.  FEES TO COUNTIES.  Notwithstanding any other provision
  1  4 in the Code to the contrary, the county treasurer of any
  1  5 county authorized to issue driver's licenses under this
  1  6 chapter shall retain for deposit in the county general fund
  1  7 three four dollars and seventy=five twenty=five cents of fees
  1  8 received for each issuance or renewal of driver's licenses and
  1  9 nonoperator identification cards, but shall not retain any
  1 10 moneys for the issuance of any persons with disabilities
  1 11 identification devices.  The county treasurer shall remit the
  1 12 balance of fees to the department.
  1 13                           EXPLANATION
  1 14    This bill increases the amount of the license fee the
  1 15 county treasurer retains for county issuance of a driver's
  1 16 license or nonoperator's identification card from $3.75 to
  1 17 $4.25.
