House Concurrent Resolution 7 PAG LIN 1 1 HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 1 2 BY FALLON 1 3 A Concurrent Resolution requesting that the 1 4 legislative council establish an interim study 1 5 committee to study instant runoff voting. 1 6 WHEREAS, the election process established by 1 7 government should advance and protect the right of its 1 8 citizens to vote; and 1 9 WHEREAS, increasing voter turnout is a laudable 1 10 goal of any election process; NOW THEREFORE, 1 11 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, THE 1 12 SENATE CONCURRING, That the legislative council is 1 13 requested to establish a legislative interim study 1 14 committee for the 2003 interim on instant runoff 1 15 voting, a system of voting by which a voter is allowed 1 16 to rank the candidates for an office on the ballot in 1 17 the order of preference.
