House Concurrent Resolution 119 PAG LIN 1 1 HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. ___ 1 2 BY COMMITTEE ON HUMAN RESOURCES 1 3 (SUCCESSOR TO HF 2191) 1 4 A Concurrent Resolution providing for the formation 1 5 of a committee by the Legislative Council to make 1 6 recommendations regarding the development of a drug 1 7 repository program. 1 8 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, THE 1 9 SENATE CONCURRING, That the legislative council is 1 10 requested to appoint an interim committee to conduct a 1 11 study of the development of a drug repository program 1 12 for accepting and distributing donated drugs. The 1 13 study shall include a determination of which drugs to 1 14 accept for donation pursuant to the program, 1 15 designation of entities that may participate in the 1 16 program and possible processing fees charged by such 1 17 entities, selection of a location for the repository, 1 18 identification of the ultimate recipients of donated 1 19 drugs, consideration of issues relating to unit=dose 1 20 packaging and drug packaging security, and evaluation 1 21 of liability issues relating to the operation of and 1 22 participation in the program. The interim committee 1 23 shall be composed of ten voting members, representing 1 24 both political parties and both houses of the general 1 25 assembly. Five members shall be members off the 1 26 senate, three of whom shall be appointed by the 1 27 majority leader of the senate and two of whom shall be 1 28 appointed by the minority leader of the senate. Five 1 29 members shall be members of the house of 1 30 representatives, appointed by the speaker of the 2 1 house, three of whom shall be of the majority party 2 2 and two of whom shall be of the minority party. 2 3 Committee members shall consult with representatives 2 4 of the board of pharmacy examiners, the Iowa 2 5 department of public health, the department of 2 6 inspections and appeals, the university of Iowa 2 7 hospitals and clinics, and various health care 2 8 provider groups in conducting the study. The interim 2 9 committee shall submit its findings and 2 10 recommendations relating to the development of the 2 11 program by January 1, 2005, to the general assembly. 2 12 LSB 5056HV 80 2 13 rn/pj/5
