Senate File 193 - Enrolled Senate File 193 AN ACT RELATING TO THE REMOVAL OF HUMAN REMAINS BY A REMOVAL TECHNICIAN. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA: Section 1. Section 156.1, Code 2023, is amended by adding the following new subsections: NEW SUBSECTION . 8. “Removal” means the act of taking human remains from the place of death or place where the human remains are being held to a funeral establishment or other designated place. NEW SUBSECTION . 9. “Removal technician” means a person registered with the board to perform removals. Sec. 2. NEW SECTION . 156.5 Removal technicians. The board shall adopt rules pursuant to chapter 17A to allow a funeral director, without first assuming custody of human remains, to delegate to a removal technician the ability to perform a removal regardless of whether the funeral director is present.
