BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA: Section 1. Section 249A.38, subsection 1, Code 2019, is amended to read as follows: 1. Following the first thirty days of commitment, the department shall suspend , but not terminate, the eligibility of an individual who is an inmate of a public institution as defined in 42 C.F.R. §435.1010 , who is enrolled in the medical assistance program at the time of commitment to the public institution, and who remains eligible for medical assistance as
