                             AN ACT
 RELATING TO THE AUTHORIZED USES OF LOCAL EXCHANGE SERVICE
    INFORMATION BY SPECIFIED INDIVIDUALS AND ENTITIES.

 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:

    Section 1.  Section 34A.8, subsection 2, paragraph b, Code
 2009, is amended to read as follows:
    b.  The program manager, joint E911 service board, the
 designated E911 service provider, and the public safety
 answering point, their agents, employees, and assigns shall
 use local exchange service information provided by the local
 exchange service provider solely for the purposes of providing
 E911 emergency telephone service or providing related 911 call
 alert services utilizing only the subscriber's information to
 a subscriber who consents to the provision of such services,
 and it shall otherwise be kept confidential.  A person who
 violates this section is guilty of a simple misdemeanor.
