House File 2411 - Enrolled PAG LIN 1 1 HOUSE FILE 2411 1 2 1 3 AN ACT 1 4 PROVIDING FOR CHANGES IN ELECTRICIAN LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS 1 5 FOR SPECIFIED LICENSURE CLASSIFICATIONS, AND PROVIDING 1 6 AN EFFECTIVE DATE. 1 7 1 8 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA: 1 9 1 10 Section 1. Section 103.10, subsection 3, paragraph a, Code 1 11 Supplement 2007, is amended to read as follows: 1 12 a. An applicant who can provide proof acceptable to the 1 13 board that the applicant has been working in the electrical 1 14 business and involved in planning for, laying out, 1 15 supervising, and installing electrical wiring, apparatus, or 1 16 equipment for light, heat, and powerprior to 1990since 1 17 January 1, 1998, and for a total of at least sixteen thousand 1 18 hours, of which at least eight thousand hours shall have been 1 19 accumulated since January 1, 1998, may be granted a class B 1 20 master electrician license without taking an examination. An 1 21 applicant who is issued a class B master electrician license 1 22 pursuant to this section shall not be authorized to plan, lay 1 23 out, or supervise the installation of electrical wiring, 1 24 apparatus, and equipment in a political subdivision which, 1 25 prior to or after January 1, 2008, establishes licensing 1 26 standards which preclude such work by class B master 1 27 electricians in the political subdivision. The board shall 1 28 adopt rules establishing procedures relating to the 1 29 restriction of a class B master electrician license pursuant 1 30 to this subsection. 1 31 Sec. 2. Section 103.12, subsection 3, paragraph a, Code 1 32 Supplement 2007, is amended to read as follows: 1 33 a. An applicant who can provide proof acceptable to the 1 34 board that the applicant has been employed as a journeyman 1 35 electrician since1990January 1, 1998, and for a total of at 2 1 least sixteen thousand hours, of which at least eight thousand 2 2 hours shall have been accumulated since January 1, 1998, may 2 3 be granted a class B journeyman electrician license without 2 4 taking an examination. An applicant who is issued a class B 2 5 journeyman electrician license pursuant to this section shall 2 6 not be authorized to wire for or install electrical wiring, 2 7 apparatus, and equipment in a political subdivision which, 2 8 prior to or after January 1, 2008, establishes licensing 2 9 standards which preclude such work by class B journeyman 2 10 electricians in the political subdivision. The board shall 2 11 adopt rules establishing procedures relating to the 2 12 restriction of a class B journeyman electrician license 2 13 pursuant to this subsection. 2 14 Sec. 3. EFFECTIVE DATE.
