  1  4 RELATING TO THE USE OF A PEACE OFFICER OF THE DEPARTMENT OF
  1  5    PUBLIC SAFETY IN AN INDUSTRIAL DISPUTE AND PROVIDING AN
  1  6    EFFECTIVE DATE.

  1  8 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:

  1 10    Section 1.  Section 80.24, Code Supplement 2005, is amended
  1 11 to read as follows:
  1 12    80.24  MUNICIPAL AND INDUSTRIAL DISPUTES.
  1 13    A peace officer of the department shall not be used or
  1 14 called upon for service within any municipality or in any
  1 15 involving an industrial dispute unless a threat of imminent
  1 16 violence exists, and then only either by order of the governor
  1 17 or on the request of the chief executive officer of the
  1 18 municipality or the sheriff of the county where the threat of
  1 19 imminent violence exists if such request is approved by the
  1 20 governor.
  1 21    Sec. 2.  CODE EDITOR DIRECTIVE.  The Code editor is
  1 22 directed to change the term "bureau of criminal
  1 23 identification" or "bureau" to "division of criminal
  1 24 investigation" or "division" wherever the term appears in the
  1 25 Code or in the Acts pending codification.
  1 26    Sec. 3.  EFFECTIVE DATE.  The section of this Act amending
  1 27 section 80.24, being deemed of immediate importance, takes
  1 28 effect upon enactment.
