transferred from chapter 233 in Code 1993</xhtml:div></xhtml:div><slim:Section class="codeSection" id="sec709A.1"><xhtml:div class="heading"><xhtml:span class="identifier">709A.1</xhtml:span><xhtml:span class="headnote">Contributing to delinquency.</xhtml:span></xhtml:div><xhtml:p class="para">It shall be unlawful:</xhtml:p><xhtml:div class="subsection"><xhtml:div class="heading"><xhtml:span class="identifier">1</xhtml:span></xhtml:div><xhtml:p class="para">To encourage any child under eighteen years of age to commit any act of delinquency defined in <xhtml:span class="iowaCodeRef">chapter 232</xhtml:span>.</xhtml:p></xhtml:div><xhtml:div class="subsection"><xhtml:div class="heading"><xhtml:span class="identifier">2</xhtml:span></xhtml:div><xhtml:p class="para">To knowingly send, cause to be sent, or induce to go, any child under the age of eighteen to any of the following:</xhtml:p><xhtml:div class="letteredPara"><xhtml:div class="heading"><xhtml:span class="identifier">a</xhtml:span></xhtml:div><xhtml:p class="para">A brothel or other premises used for the purposes of prostitution, with the intent that the child engage the services of a prostitute.</xhtml:p></xhtml:div><xhtml:div class="letteredPara"><xhtml:div class="heading"><xhtml:span class="identifier">b</xhtml:span></xhtml:div><xhtml:p class="para">An unlicensed premises where alcoholic liquor, wine, or beer is unlawfully sold or kept for sale.</xhtml:p></xhtml:div><xhtml:div class="letteredPara"><xhtml:div class="heading"><xhtml:span class="identifier">c</xhtml:span></xhtml:div><xhtml:p class="para">Any premises the use of which constitutes a violation of <xhtml:span class="iowaCodeRef">chapter 717A</xhtml:span>, or <xhtml:span class="iowaCodeRef">section 725.5</xhtml:span> or <xhtml:span class="iowaCodeRef">725.10</xhtml:span>.</xhtml:p></xhtml:div></xhtml:div><xhtml:div class="subsection"><xhtml:div class="heading"><xhtml:span class="identifier">3</xhtml:span></xhtml:div><xhtml:p class="para">To knowingly encourage, contribute, or in any manner cause such child to violate any law of this state, or any ordinance of any city.</xhtml:p></xhtml:div><xhtml:div class="subsection"><xhtml:div class="heading"><xhtml:span class="identifier">4</xhtml:span></xhtml:div><xhtml:p class="para">To knowingly permit, encourage, or cause such child to be guilty of any vicious or immoral conduct.</xhtml:p></xhtml:div><xhtml:div class="subsection"><xhtml:div class="heading"><xhtml:span class="identifier">5</xhtml:span></xhtml:div><xhtml:p class="para">For a parent willfully to fail to support the parent’s child under eighteen years of age whom the parent has a legal obligation to support.</xhtml:p></xhtml:div><xhtml:div class="history"><xhtml:div class="historyItem"><xhtml:p class="p">[C24, 27, 31, 35, 39, §<xhtml:span class="b">3658;</xhtml:span> C46, 50, 54, 58, 62, 66, 71, 73, 75, 77, 79, <xhtml:span class="iowaCodeRef">81, §233.1</xhtml:span>]</xhtml:p></xhtml:div><xhtml:div class="historyItem"><xhtml:p class="p"><xhtml:span class="iowaActsRef">86 Acts, ch 1046, §1</xhtml:span></xhtml:p><xhtml:p class="p"><xhtml:span class="iowaCodeRef">C93, §709A.1</xhtml:span></xhtml:p><xhtml:p class="p"><xhtml:span class="iowaActsRef">2004 Acts, ch 1056, §2, 10</xhtml:span>; Should said conditions be fulfilled, the court may at any time enter an order setting said conviction aside and wholly releasing the defendant therefrom.
