1035:AA777547-994E-4DFD-A584-67C3D3448BF807/20/2021 08:443154GMUSIC THERAPY154G.1Definitions.As used in this chapter, unless the context otherwise requires:1“Music therapist” means a person who holds an active music therapist board-certified credential granted by the certification board for music therapists.2“Music therapy” means the clinical and evidence-based use of music interventions to accomplish individualized goals for people of all ages and ability levels within a therapeutic relationship by a music therapist.2021 Acts, ch 118, §1154G.2Practice or use of title.1A person shall not profess to be a music therapist or board-certified music therapist or use the initials “MT-BC” or any other words, letters, abbreviations, or insignia indicating or implying that the person is a music therapist unless the person holds and maintains the music therapist board-certified credential granted by the certification board for music therapists.2This chapter does not prohibit a person from using music in the performance of the person’s profession or occupation if the person does not represent that the person is a music therapist.3A person who recklessly, knowingly, or intentionally violates this section is guilty of a simple misdemeanor.2021 Acts, ch 118, §2
