The prosecuting attorneys training coordinator shall be the administrator of the office of the prosecuting attorneys training coordinator. The coordinator’s term of office is four years, beginning on July 1 of the year of appointment and ending on June 30 of the year of expiration.</xhtml:p></xhtml:div><xhtml:div class="subsection"><xhtml:div class="heading"><xhtml:span class="identifier">4</xhtml:span></xhtml:div><xhtml:p class="para">If a vacancy occurs in the office of prosecuting attorneys training coordinator, the vacancy shall be filled for the unexpired portion of the term in the same manner as the original appointment was made.</xhtml:p></xhtml:div><xhtml:div class="subsection"><xhtml:div class="heading"><xhtml:span class="identifier">5</xhtml:span></xhtml:div><xhtml:p class="para">The attorney general may, with the advice of the council, remove the prosecuting attorneys training coordinator for malfeasance or nonfeasance in office, for any cause which renders the coordinator ineligible for appointment, or for any cause which renders the coordinator incapable or unfit to discharge the duties of office. The prosecuting attorneys training coordinator may also be removed upon the unanimous vote of the council. The removal of a prosecuting attorneys training coordinator under <xhtml:span class="iowaCodeRef">this section</xhtml:span> is final.</xhtml:p></xhtml:div><xhtml:div class="history"><xhtml:div class="historyItem"><xhtml:p class="p">[C77, 79, <xhtml:span class="iowaCodeRef">81, §13A.2</xhtml:span>]</xhtml:p></xhtml:div><xhtml:div class="historyItem"><xhtml:p class="p"><xhtml:span class="iowaActsRef">86 Acts, ch 1245, §2056</xhtml:span>; <xhtml:span class="iowaActsRef">93 Acts, ch 171, §16, 17</xhtml:span></xhtml:p></xhtml:div></xhtml:div></slim:Section><slim:Section class="codeSection" id="sec13A.3"><xhtml:div class="heading"><xhtml:span class="identifier">13A.3</xhtml:span><xhtml:span class="headnote">Membership and terms.</xhtml:span></xhtml:div><xhtml:div class="subsection"><xhtml:div class="heading"><xhtml:span class="identifier">1</xhtml:span></xhtml:div><xhtml:p class="para">The council shall consist of five members as follows:</xhtml:p><xhtml:div class="letteredPara"><xhtml:div class="heading"><xhtml:span class="identifier">a</xhtml:span></xhtml:div><xhtml:p class="para">The attorney general or the attorney general’s designated representative.</xhtml:p></xhtml:div><xhtml:div class="letteredPara"><xhtml:div class="heading"><xhtml:span class="identifier">b</xhtml:span></xhtml:div><xhtml:p class="para">The president of the Iowa county attorneys association or its successor.</xhtml:p></xhtml:div><xhtml:div class="letteredPara"><xhtml:div class="heading"><xhtml:span class="identifier">c</xhtml:span></xhtml:div><xhtml:p class="para">Three members elected by the Iowa county attorneys association or its successor.</xhtml:p></xhtml:div></xhtml:div><xhtml:div class="subsection"><xhtml:div class="heading"><xhtml:span class="identifier">2</xhtml:span></xhtml:div><xhtml:p class="para">A member shall vacate an appointment upon termination of the member’s official position as a prosecuting attorney or an attorney general. A vacancy shall be filled in the same manner as the original appointment. A member appointed to fill a vacancy created other than by expiration of a term on the council shall be appointed for the unexpired term of the member whom the new member is to succeed in the same manner as the original appointment. Any member may be reappointed for an additional term.</xhtml:p></xhtml:div><xhtml:div class="subsection"><xhtml:div class="heading"><xhtml:span class="identifier">3</xhtml:span></xhtml:div><xhtml:p class="para">The terms of the elected members shall be three years and shall be staggered so that one member is elected each year.</xhtml:p></xhtml:div><xhtml:div class="history"><xhtml:div class="historyItem"><xhtml:p class="p">[C77, 79, <xhtml:span class="iowaCodeRef">81, §13A.3</xhtml:span>]</xhtml:p></xhtml:div><xhtml:div class="historyItem"><xhtml:p class="p"><xhtml:span class="iowaActsRef">2008 Acts, ch 1031, §12</xhtml:span></xhtml:p></xhtml:div></xhtml:div></slim:Section><slim:Section class="codeSection" id="sec13A.4"><xhtml:div class="heading"><xhtml:span class="identifier">13A.4</xhtml:span><xhtml:span class="headnote">Organization.</xhtml:span></xhtml:div><xhtml:p class="para">The council shall designate from among its members a chairperson and vice chairperson who shall serve for one-year terms and who may be reelected. Membership on the council shall not constitute holding a public office, and members of the council shall not be required to take and file oaths of office before serving on the council. A member of the council shall not be disqualified from holding any public office or employment by reason of membership on the council, nor shall one member forfeit the office or employment, by reason of appointment under <xhtml:span class="iowaCodeRef">this chapter</xhtml:span>, notwithstanding the provisions of any law, ordinance or city charter.</xhtml:p><xhtml:div class="history"><xhtml:div class="historyItem"><xhtml:p class="p">[C77, 79, <xhtml:span class="iowaCodeRef">81, §13A.4</xhtml:span>]</xhtml:p></xhtml:div></xhtml:div></slim:Section><slim:Section class="codeSection" id="sec13A.5"><xhtml:div class="heading"><xhtml:span class="identifier">13A.5</xhtml:span><xhtml:span class="headnote">Meetings.</xhtml:span></xhtml:div><xhtml:p class="para">The council shall hold meetings when called by the chairperson, or in the absence of the chairperson, by the vice chairperson or when called by the chairperson upon the written request of three members of the council.
