Senate File 425 S-3178 Amend Senate File 425 as follows: 1 1. By striking everything after the enacting clause and 2 inserting: 3 < Section 1. Section 558A.1, Code 2025, is amended by adding 4 the following new subsections: 5 NEW SUBSECTION . 3A. “Lead service line” means a service 6 line which is made of lead. A galvanized service line is 7 considered a lead service line if the line ever was or is 8 currently downstream of any lead service line or service line 9 of unknown material. For the purposes of this subsection, 10 “downstream” means the section of the service line between a 11 lead service line and the water meter. 12 NEW SUBSECTION . 4A. “Service line” means the pipe 13 connecting the water main to the interior plumbing in a 14 building. For the purposes of this subsection, “service line” 15 includes the pipe from the water main to the water meter, not 16 including interior plumbing. 17 Sec. 2. Section 558A.4, subsection 1, paragraph a, Code 18 2025, is amended to read as follows: 19 a. The disclosure statement shall include information 20 relating to the condition and important characteristics of the 21 property and structures located on the property, including 22 significant defects in the structural integrity of the 23 structure and the presence of lead service lines , as provided 24 in rules which shall be adopted by the real estate commission 25 pursuant to section 543B.9 . The rules may require the 26 disclosure to include information relating to the property’s 27 zoning classification; the condition of plumbing, heating, or 28 electrical systems; or the presence of pests. 29 Sec. 3. EFFECTIVE DATE. This Act takes effect January 1, 30 2026. > 31 2.
