By striking page 1, line 1, through page 3, line 22, and 2 inserting: 3 < Amend House File 2508 as follows: 4 1. By striking everything after the enacting clause and 5 inserting: 6 < Section 1. Section 280.13, subsection 2, paragraph a, Code 7 2026, is amended by adding the following new subparagraph: 8 NEW SUBPARAGRAPH . (5) (a) Beginning with the 2026-2027 9 school year, the corporation, association, or organization 10 shall permit a school district to elect to observe the 11 noncontact periods described in this subparagraph, during 12 which a coach or teacher shall not have contact with students 13 regarding extracurricular interscholastic athletics and 14 extracurricular interscholastic athletics do not occur. If 15 observed, all high school students, including incoming ninth 16 grade students, shall be subject to a noncontact period and 17 shall not have contact, on or off school premises, with coaches 18 or teachers, or use school facilities for extracurricular 19 interscholastic athletics during a noncontact period. 20 (b) The summer noncontact period must consist of a 21 continuous ten-day period occurring during the summer. 22 (c) The fall noncontact period must consist of a continuous 23 seven-day period occurring in November. 24 (d) Organizations that operate nonschool-sponsored 25 extracurricular interscholastic athletics in this state may 26 observe the noncontact periods in this subparagraph. > 27 2.
