NEW SECTION . 261M.1 Definition. 8 As used in this chapter, “institution of higher education” 9 means an institution of higher education governed by the state 10 board of regents, a community college, or an accredited private 11 institution as defined in section 256.183. 12 Sec. ___. NEW SECTION . 261M.2 Food and beverages provided 13 to students —— prohibited ingredients. 14 1. An institution of higher education shall not serve a meal 15 to students that contains any of the following ingredients: 16 a. Blue dye 1. 17 b. Blue dye 2. 18 c. Green dye 3. 19 d. Potassium bromate. 20 e. Propylparaben. 21 f. Red dye 40. 22 g. Yellow dye 5. 23 h. Yellow dye 6. 24 2. An employee or contracted vendor of an institution of 25 higher education shall not provide any food or beverages that 26 contain an ingredient described in subsection 1 to a student 27 enrolled in the institution on the campus of the institution. 28 3. An institution of higher education shall not permit 29 the sale to students of any foods or beverages that contain 30 an ingredient described in subsection 1 on the campus of the 31 institution. > 32 3.
