SUBSECTION
.
01.
“Barber
styling”
means
all
of
the

following:

a.
Curling,
waving,
press
and
curl
hair
straightening,
9
shampooing,
cutting,
blow
waving,
or
similar
works,
upon
the
10
hair
or
beard
of
any
person,
or
upon
a
wig
or
hairpiece
when
11
done
in
conjunction
with
haircutting
or
hairstyling
by
any
12
means.

b.
Massaging,
cleaning,
stimulating,
exercising,
or
14
beautifying
the
superficial
epidermis
of
the
scalp,
face,
neck,
15
or
upper
body
of
any
person
with
the
hands
or
a
mechanical
or
16
electrical
apparatus
or
appliance
or
with
the
use
of
cosmetic
17
preparation,
including
cleansers,
toners,
moisturizers,
18
masques,
antiseptics,
powders,
oils,
clays,
or
lotions.

license

services
pursuant
to
section
157.12C
.

practices
listed
in
section
157.1
when
performed

the

persons
are
not
defined
as
the
practice
of

arts
and
sciences:

services
at
the
school

students.

board
shall
adopt
rules
for
the
implementation
of

this
section
.

5.
Section
157.10,
subsection
1,
Code
2025,
is
amended

by
adding
the
following
new
paragraphs:

.
d.
The
course
of
study
required
for

licensure
which
is
limited
to
the
practice
of
barber
styling
14
shall
be
a
minimum
of
six
hundred
hours,
or
twenty
semester
15
credit
hours
or
the
equivalent
thereof,
as
determined
pursuant
16
to
administrative
regulations
promulgated
by
the
United
States
17
department
of
education.

.
e.
The
board
shall
approve
proposed
courses
19
of
study
allowing
a
student
to
simultaneously
study
for
a
20
license
to
practice
multiple
of
the
barbering
and
cosmetology
21
arts
and
sciences.

6.
Section
157.11,
subsection
3,
Code
2025,
is
amended

to
read
as
follows:

3.
A
licensed
school
of
barbering
and
cosmetology
arts
and

sciences
at
which
students
or
licensees
practice
barbering
and

cosmetology
arts
and
sciences
is
exempt
from
licensing
as
an

establishment.
