legislative
council
is
requested
to
establish
an

interim
study
committee
to
meet
during
the
2025
legislative

interim
to
plan
an
Iowa
education
summit
to
be
held
in
2026.

The
interim
study
committee
shall
do
all
of
the
following:

a.
Determine
a
potential
location,
time,
date,
and
agenda
11
for
the
Iowa
education
summit.
12
b.
Study
and
determine
educational
leaders
and
presenters
13
who
could
speak
during
the
Iowa
education
summit
and
provide
14
information
related
to
best
practices
in
education,
including
15
but
not
limited
to
any
of
the
following:

(1)
Active
learning.
17
(2)
Differentiated
instruction.
18
(3)
Formative
assessments.
19
(4)
Providing
constructive
feedback.
20
(5)
Using
technology.
21
(6)
Encouraging
student,
family,
and
community
22
participation.

c.
Develop
a
list
of
prospective
guest
speakers
and
keynote
24
speakers
for
the
Iowa
education
summit,
which
may
include
but
25
is
not
limited
to
any
of
the
following:

(1)
Academics.

(2)
Practitioners.

(3)
Elected
officials.

(4)
Students.

Parents.

any
other
issues
that
the
interim
study
committee

determines
are
relevant
to
the
planning
and

the

The
interim
study
committee
may
solicit
the
advice
or

any
organization

individual
with
information

expertise
relevant
to
the
purpose

the
interim
study

a.
The
interim
study
committee
shall
include
all
of
the

following
members:

Two
state
senators
appointed
by
the
majority
leader
of
6
the
senate.
7
(2)
Two
state
senators
appointed
by
the
minority
leader
of
8
the
senate.

(3)
Two
state
representatives
appointed
by
the
speaker
of
10
the
house
of
representatives.
11
(4)
Two
state
representatives
appointed
by
the
minority
12
leader
of
the
house
of
representatives.
13
(5)
The
director
of
the
department
of
education,
or
the
14
director’s
designee.
15
(6)
One
superintendent
who
is
employed
by
a
school
district
16
with
a
total
enrollment
of
greater
than
or
equal
to
five
17
thousand
students.

(7)
One
superintendent
who
is
employed
by
a
school
district
19
with
a
total
enrollment
of
greater
than
or
equal
to
one
20
thousand
students
but
less
than
five
thousand
students.

One
superintendent
who
is
employed
by
a
school
district

with
a
total
enrollment
of
less
than
one
thousand
students.

(9)
One
special
education
teacher.

(10)
One
teacher
who
does
not
provide
special
education

programs
or

One
teacher
who
provides
early
childhood
education.

Two
teachers
who
are
employed
by
accredited
nonpublic

teachers
