House File 387 H-1023 Amend House File 387 as follows: 1 1. By striking everything after the enacting clause and 2 inserting: 3 < Section 1. Section 483A.24, subsection 16, Code 2025, is 4 amended to read as follows: 5 16. a. Upon payment of the fee established by rules adopted 6 pursuant to section 483A.1 for a lifetime fishing license , or 7 lifetime hunting and fishing combined license, or lifetime 8 fur harvester license, the department shall issue a lifetime 9 fishing license , or lifetime hunting and fishing combined 10 license , or lifetime fur harvester license to a resident of 11 Iowa who has served in the armed forces of the United States on 12 federal active duty and who was disabled or was a prisoner of 13 war during that veteran’s military service. 14 b. Upon payment of a fee established by rules adopted 15 pursuant to section 483A.1 for a nonresident lifetime fishing 16 license, the department shall issue a nonresident lifetime 17 fishing license to a nonresident who has served in the armed 18 forces of the United States on federal active duty and was 19 disabled during that veteran’s military service. 20 c. The department shall prepare an application to be used 21 by a person requesting a lifetime fishing license or lifetime 22 hunting and fishing combined license under this subsection . 23 The department of veterans affairs shall assist the department 24 in verifying the status or claims of applicants under this 25 subsection . As used in this subsection , “disabled” means 26 entitled to a service connected rating under 38 U.S.C. ch. 11. > 27 2.
