Section 466B.46, subsection 3, Code 2024, is 5 amended to read as follows: 6 3. a. Moneys remaining in the fund after the appropriation 7 in paragraph “b” are appropriated to the center and shall be 8 used exclusively by the center to carry out its purpose as 9 described in section 466B.47 . 10 b. (1) Five hundred thousand dollars is appropriated 11 annually from the fund to the IIHR —— hydroscience and 12 engineering within the college of engineering of the university 13 of Iowa for purposes of conducting water quality monitoring and 14 reporting activities. 15 (2) The IIHR —— hydroscience and engineering shall 16 establish and maintain a monitoring station in each United 17 States geological survey hydrologic unit code 10 or larger 18 watershed where a stream merges with the Mississippi river or 19 Missouri river. 20 (3) The IIHR —— hydroscience and engineering shall prepare 21 an annual report and make recommendations to the department of 22 natural resources and the department of agriculture and land 23 stewardship regarding the waters experiencing or at greatest 24 risk of stream degradation or significant impairment and 25 considering those waters as priority watersheds. > 26 2.
