There
is
appropriated
from
the
general
fund
of
the
state

to
the
department
of
health
and
human
services
for
the
fiscal

year
beginning
July
1,
2024,
and
ending
June
30,
2025,
the

following
amount,
or
so
much
thereof
as
is
necessary,
to
be
9
used
for
the
purposes
designated:

of
Iowa
cancer
surveillance

2.
The
department
of
health
and
human
services
shall

collaborate
with
the
Iowa
cancer
consortium
to
perform
a
15
focused
review
of
the
cancer
incidence
data
collected
in
the
16
state
health
registry
of
Iowa/Iowa
cancer
registry
and
the
17
2023-2027
Iowa
cancer
plan
to
investigate
the
causality
of
18
the
increased
incidence
of
cancer
in
Iowa
and
to
recommend
19
strategies
and
specific
action
steps,
including
policy
20
changes,
to
guide
cancer
control
activities.
The
department
21
of
health
and
human
services
shall
use
a
portion
of
the
22
moneys
appropriated
to
employ
one
full-time
equivalent
23
position
dedicated
to
the
Iowa
cancer
control
program.
The
24
department
of
health
and
human
services
shall
also
utilize
a
25
portion
of
the
moneys
appropriated,
as
necessary,
to
employ
26
or
engage
staff
with
expertise
in
the
areas
of
epidemiology,
27
biostatistics,
and
other
appropriate
specialty
areas
to
perform
28
the
review
and
develop
the
recommendations.
The
department
of
29
health
and
human
services
shall
submit
a
report
of
the
findings
30
and
recommendations
resulting
from
the
focused
review
to
the
31
general
assembly
by
September
1,
2025.
