duties

oversight

services
to
the
area

agency

ensure

agency
complies

federal

state
laws
related
to
special

plan

department

forms

.

b.
The
use
of
an
accreditation
team
appointed
by
the

visit

each
area
education
agency.
The
team
shall
include,
but

limited
to,
department
staff
members,
representatives

from
the
school
districts
served
by
the

from

education
agencies
other
than
the
area
education
agency
that
26
conducts
the
programs
being
evaluated
for
accreditation,
and
27
other
team
members
with
expertise
as
deemed
appropriate

the

Prior
to
a
visit
to
an
area
education
agency,
the

accreditation
team

accreditation

Approval

of

be
based
upon
the

recommendation
of
the

of

department

factual
and
evaluative
evidence

the
remediation
plan.
The
accreditation

team

visit

agency
and

determine

whether
the
deficiencies
in
the
standards
for
the
program
have
8
been
corrected
and
shall
make
a
report
and
recommendation
9
to
the
director
and
the
state
board
of
education
division
10
of
special
education
.
The
state
board
division
of
special
11
education
shall
review
the
report
and
recommendation
and
shall
12
determine
whether
the
deficiencies
in
the
program
have
been
13
corrected.
If
the
division
of
special
education
determines
14
that
the
deficiencies
in
the
program
have
been
corrected,
the
15
division
of
special
education
shall
reinstate
the
accreditation
16
of
the
area
education
agency
program
if
such
accreditation
was
17
suspended
pursuant
to
this
subsection.

a.
If
the
deficiencies
in
an
area
education
program
19
have
not
been
corrected,
the
agency
board
division
of
special
20
education
of
the
department
of
education
shall
take
one
21
of
the
following
actions
within
sixty
days
from
removal
of
22
accreditation:
23
(1)
Merge
the
deficient
program
with
a
program
from
another
24
accredited
area
education
agency.
25
(2)
Contract
with
another
area
education
agency
or
other
26
public
educational
institution
for
purposes
of
program
27
delivery.
28
b.
The
rules
developed
by
the
state
board
of
education
for
29
the
accreditation
process
shall
include
provisions
for
removal
30
of
accreditation,
including
provisions
for
proper
notice
to
the
31
administrator
of
the
area
education
agency,
each
member
of
the

board

department
