Hungry
kids
plates.

a.
Upon
application
and
payment
of
the
proper
fees,
the

director
may
issue
hungry
kids
plates
to
the
owner
of
a
7
motor
vehicle
subject
to
registration
under
section
321.109,
8
subsection
1,
autocycle,
motor
truck,
motor
home,
multipurpose
9
vehicle,
motorcycle,
trailer,
or
travel
trailer.

b.
Hungry
kids
plates
shall
be
designed
by
the
department.
11
The
background
shall
be
green
and
the
plate’s
numbers
and
12
letters
shall
be
white.
The
left
side
of
the
plate
shall
13
depict
an
image
of
a
cornucopia.
The
phrase
“Feed
the
Kids”
14
shall
appear
at
the
bottom
of
the
plate.
15
c.
The
special
hungry
kids
fee
for
letter-number
designated
16
hungry
kids
plates
is
thirty—five
dollars.
An
applicant
may
17
obtain
personalized
hungry
kids
plates
upon
payment
of
the
fee
18
for
personalized
plates
as
provided
in
subsection
5,
which
19
is
in
addition
to
the
special
hungry
kids
fee.
Personalized
20
plates
authorized
by
this
subsection
shall
be
limited
to
no
21
more
than
five
numerals,
letters,
or
combinations
of
numerals
22
and
letters.

d.
The
fees
collected
by
the
director
under
this
subsection
24
shall
be
paid
monthly
to
the
treasurer
of
state
and
deposited
25
in
the
road
use
tax
fund.
The
treasurer
of
state
shall
26
transfer
monthly
from
the
statutory
allocations
fund
created
27
under
section
321.145,
subsection
2,
to
the
general
fund
of
the
28
state
the
amount
of
the
special
fees
collected
in
the
previous
29
month
for
hungry
kids
plates.
Such
moneys
are
appropriated
to
30
the
department
of
education
to
distribute
in
the
form
of
grants
31
to
provide
access
to
food
for
school-aged
children
during
the
32
months
beginning
in
June
and
ending
in
August.
Notwithstanding
33
section
8.33,
moneys
appropriated
under
this
subsection
shall
34
not
revert
to
the
general
fund
of
the
state.

e.
Upon
receipt
of
the
special
registration
plates,
the

applicant
shall
surrender
the
current
registration
plates
to
2
the
county
treasurer.
The
county
treasurer
shall
validate

the
special
registration
plates
in
the
same
manner
as
regular
4
registration
plates
are
validated
under
this
section.
The
5
annual
special
hungry
kids
fee
for
letter-number
designated
6
plates
is
ten
dollars
which
shall
be
paid
in
addition
to
7
the
regular
annual
registration
fee.
The
annual
fee
for
8
personalized
hungry
kids
plates
is
five
dollars
which
shall
be
9
paid
in
addition
to
the
annual
special
hungry
kids
fee
and
the
10
regular
annual
registration
fee.
The
annual
special
hungry
11
kids
fee
shall
be
credited
as
provided
under
paragraph
“d”
.

f.
The
department
shall
not
condition
the
issuance
of
hungry
13
kids
plates
on
the
receipt
of
any
number
of
orders
for
hungry
14
kids
plates.
