Paralympic
games
plates.

a.
Upon
application
and
payment
of
the
proper
fees,
the
6
director
may
issue
paralympic
games
plates
to
the
owner
of
a
7
motor
vehicle
subject
to
registration
under
section
321.109,
8
subsection
1,
autocycle,
motor
truck,
motor
home,
multipurpose
9
vehicle,
motorcycle,
trailer,
or
travel
trailer.
10
b.
Paralympic
games
plates
shall
be
designed
by
the
11
department.
The
background
shall
be
white
and
the
plate’s
12
numbers
and
letters
shall
be
blue.
The
left
side
of
the
13
plate
shall
depict
the
logo
used
by
and
associated
with
the
14
paralympic
games.
15
c.
The
special
paralympic
games
fee
for
letter-number
16
designated
paralympic
games
plates
is
thirty-five
dollars.
17
An
applicant
may
obtain
personalized
paralympic
games
plates
18
upon
payment
of
the
fee
for
personalized
plates
as
provided
in
19
subsection
5,
which
is
in
addition
to
the
special
paralympic
20
games
fee.
Personalized
plates
authorized
by
this
subsection
21
shall
be
limited
to
no
more
than
five
numerals,
letters,
or
22
combinations
of
numerals
and
letters.
23
d.
The
fees
collected
by
the
director
under
this
subsection
24
shall
be
paid
monthly
to
the
treasurer
of
state
and
deposited
25
in
the
road
use
tax
fund.
The
treasurer
of
state
shall
26
transfer
monthly
from
the
statutory
allocations
fund
created
27
under
section
321.145,
subsection
2,
to
the
general
fund
of
28
the
state
the
amount
of
the
special
fees
collected
in
the
29
previous
month
for
paralympic
games
plates.
Such
moneys
are
30
appropriated
to
the
department
of
health
and
human
services
31
to
distribute
in
the
form
of
grants
to
support
paralympic
32
games
and
athletes
in
this
state.
In
the
awarding
of
grants,
33
the
department
of
health
and
human
services
shall
give
first
34
consideration
to
the
Iowa
special
olympics
and
similar
35

nonprofit
organizations.
Notwithstanding
section
8.33,
moneys
1
appropriated
under
this
subsection
shall
not
revert
to
the

general
fund
of
the
state.

e.
Upon
receipt
of
the
special
registration
plates,

the
applicant
shall
surrender
the
current
registration
5
plates
to
the
county
treasurer.
The
county
treasurer
6
shall
validate
the
special
registration
plates
in
the
same
7
manner
as
regular
registration
plates
are
validated
under
8
this
section.
The
annual
special
paralympic
games
fee
for
9
letter-number
designated
plates
is
ten
dollars
which
shall
be
10
paid
in
addition
to
the
regular
annual
registration
fee.
The
11
annual
fee
for
personalized
paralympic
games
plates
is
five
12
dollars
which
shall
be
paid
in
addition
to
the
annual
special
13
paralympic
games
fee
and
the
regular
annual
registration
fee.
14
The
annual
special
paralympic
games
fee
shall
be
credited
as
15
provided
under
paragraph
“d”
.

f.
The
department
shall
not
condition
the
issuance
of
17
paralympic
games
plates
on
the
receipt
of
any
number
of
orders
18
for
paralympic
games
plates.
