Violence
prevention
plates.

a.
Upon
application
and
payment
of
the
proper
fees,
the

director
may
issue
violence
prevention
plates
to
the
owner
of
a
7
motor
vehicle
subject
to
registration
under
section
321.109,
8
subsection
1,
autocycle,
motor
truck,
motor
home,
multipurpose
9
vehicle,
motorcycle,
trailer,
or
travel
trailer.
10
b.
Violence
prevention
plates
shall
be
designed
by
the
11
department.
The
background
shall
be
orange
and
the
plate’s
12
numbers
and
letters
shall
be
white.
The
phrase
“Take
Care
Of
13
Our
Babies”
shall
appear
at
the
bottom
of
the
plate.
14
c.
The
special
violence
prevention
fee
for
letter-number
15
designated
violence
prevention
plates
is
thirty-five
dollars.
16
An
applicant
may
obtain
personalized
violence
prevention
17
plates
upon
payment
of
the
fee
for
personalized
plates
as
18
provided
in
subsection
5,
which
is
in
addition
to
the
special
19
violence
prevention
fee.
Personalized
plates
authorized
by
20
this
subsection
shall
be
limited
to
no
more
than
five
numerals,
21
letters,
or
combinations
of
numerals
and
letters.

d.
The
fees
collected
by
the
director
under
this
subsection
23
shall
be
paid
monthly
to
the
treasurer
of
state
and
deposited
24
in
the
road
use
tax
fund.
The
treasurer
of
state
shall
25
transfer
monthly
from
the
statutory
allocations
fund
created
26
under
section
321.145,
subsection
2,
to
the
general
fund
27
of
the
state
the
amount
of
the
special
fees
collected
in
28
the
previous
month
for
violence
prevention
plates.
Such
29
moneys
are
appropriated
to
the
department
of
public
safety
30
to
distribute
in
the
form
of
grants
to
raise
awareness
about
31
youth
violence
in
this
state.
Notwithstanding
section
8.33,
32
moneys
appropriated
under
this
subsection
shall
not
revert
to
33
the
general
fund
of
the
state.

e.
Upon
receipt
of
the
special
registration
plates,
the

applicant
shall
surrender
the
current
registration
plates
to

the
county
treasurer.
The
county
treasurer
shall
validate

the
special
registration
plates
in
the
same
manner
as
regular

registration
plates
are
validated
under
this
section.
The

annual
special
violence
prevention
fee
for
letter-number
5
designated
plates
is
ten
dollars
which
shall
be
paid
in
6
addition
to
the
regular
annual
registration
fee.
The
annual
7
fee
for
personalized
violence
prevention
plates
is
five
dollars
8
which
shall
be
paid
in
addition
to
the
annual
special
violence
9
prevention
fee
and
the
regular
annual
registration
fee.
The
10
annual
special
violence
prevention
fee
shall
be
credited
as
11
provided
under
paragraph
“d”
.

f.
The
department
shall
not
condition
the
issuance
of
13
violence
prevention
plates
on
the
receipt
of
any
number
of
14
orders
for
violence
prevention
plates.
