Section 321.34, Code 2024, is amended by adding 3 the following new subsection: 4 NEW SUBSECTION . 11F. Four-lane highway 30 plates. 5 a. Upon application and payment of the proper fees, the 6 director may issue four-lane highway 30 plates to the owner of 7 a motor vehicle subject to registration under section 321.109, 8 subsection 1, autocycle, motor truck, motor home, multipurpose 9 vehicle, motorcycle, trailer, or travel trailer. 10 b. Four-lane highway 30 plates shall be designed by the 11 department. The background shall be black and the plate’s 12 numbers and letters shall be orange. The phrase “Make Highway 13 30 Great” shall appear at the bottom of the plate. 14 c. The special four-lane highway 30 fee for letter-number 15 designated four-lane highway 30 plates is thirty-five dollars. 16 An applicant may obtain personalized four-lane highway 30 17 plates upon payment of the fee for personalized plates as 18 provided in subsection 5, which is in addition to the special 19 four-lane highway 30 fee. 20 d. The fees collected by the director under this subsection 21 shall be paid monthly to the treasurer of state and deposited 22 in the road use tax fund. 23 e. Upon receipt of the special registration plates, the 24 applicant shall surrender the current registration plates to 25 the county treasurer. The county treasurer shall validate 26 the special registration plates in the same manner as regular 27 registration plates are validated under this section. The 28 annual special four-lane highway 30 fee for letter-number 29 designated plates is ten dollars which shall be paid in 30 addition to the regular annual registration fee. The annual 31 fee for personalized four-lane highway 30 plates is five 32 dollars which shall be paid in addition to the annual special 33 four-lane highway 30 fee and the regular annual registration 34 fee.
