Lung
cancer
awareness
plates.

a.
Upon
application
and
payment
of
the
proper
fees,
the
6
director
may
issue
lung
cancer
awareness
plates
to
the
owner
of
7
a
motor
vehicle
subject
to
registration
under
section
321.109,
8
subsection
1,
autocycle,
motor
truck,
motor
home,
multipurpose
9
vehicle,
motorcycle,
trailer,
or
travel
trailer.
10
b.
Lung
cancer
awareness
plates
shall
be
designed
by
the
11
department
in
consultation
with
the
department
of
health
and
12
human
services.
13
c.
The
special
lung
cancer
awareness
fee
for
letter-number
14
designated
lung
cancer
awareness
plates
is
thirty-five
dollars.
15
An
applicant
may
obtain
personalized
lung
cancer
awareness
16
plates
upon
payment
of
the
fee
for
personalized
plates
as
17
provided
in
subsection
5,
which
is
in
addition
to
the
special
18
lung
cancer
awareness
fee.
19
d.
The
fees
collected
by
the
director
under
this
subsection
20
shall
be
paid
monthly
to
the
treasurer
of
state
and
deposited
21
in
the
road
use
tax
fund.
The
treasurer
of
state
shall
22
transfer
monthly
from
the
statutory
allocations
fund
created
23
under
section
321.145,
subsection
2,
to
the
general
fund
of
24
the
state
the
amount
of
the
special
fees
collected
in
the
25
previous
month
for
lung
cancer
awareness
plates.
Such
moneys
26
are
appropriated
to
the
department
of
health
and
human
services
27
to
distribute
in
the
form
of
grants
to
organizations
that
work
28
to
educate
persons
about
the
risks
and
causes
of
lung
cancer.
29
Notwithstanding
section
8.33,
moneys
appropriated
under
this
30
subsection
shall
not
revert
to
the
general
fund
of
the
state.
31
e.
Upon
receipt
of
the
special
registration
plates,
the
32
applicant
shall
surrender
the
current
registration
plates
to
33
the
county
treasurer.
The
county
treasurer
shall
validate
34
the
special
registration
plates
in
the
same
manner
as
regular

are
validated
under
this
section.
The
1
annual
special
lung
cancer
awareness
fee
for
letter-number

designated
plates
is
ten
dollars
which
shall
be
paid
in

regular
annual
registration
fee.

annual

for
personalized
lung
cancer
awareness
plates
is
five
5
dollars
which
shall
be
paid
in
addition
to
the
annual
special
6
lung
cancer
awareness
fee
and
the
regular
annual
registration
7
fee.
The
annual
special
lung
cancer
awareness
fee
shall
be

credited
as
provided
under
paragraph
“d”
.

The
department
shall
not
condition
the
issuance
of
lung

cancer
awareness
plates
on
the
receipt
of
any
number
of
orders

for

cancer
awareness
plates.
