NEW SECTION . 147.11A Midwives —— 4 reimbursement. 5 1. The department may issue a specialty occupational 6 license for medical reimbursement to an individual who is a 7 certified professional midwife, certified nurse midwife, or 8 certified midwife. The department shall adopt rules for the 9 implementation of this section, including a fee to cover the 10 administrative costs of licensure under this section. 11 2. For the purposes of this section: 12 a. “Certified midwife” means a person who holds a current, 13 valid certification from the American midwifery certification 14 board. 15 b. “Certified nurse midwife” means a registered nurse 16 who holds a current, valid certification from the American 17 midwifery certification board. 18 c. “Certified professional midwife” means a person who holds 19 a current, valid certification with the North American registry 20 of midwives or its successor organization. 21 d. “Specialty occupational license for medical reimbursement” 22 means a nontransferable authorization in law for an individual 23 to qualify for payment or reimbursement from a governmental 24 agency for providing identified medical services based on 25 meeting personal qualifications established in law which may be 26 recognized by a private company. 27 Sec. 2. CONTINGENT EFFECTIVE DATE. This Act takes effect 28 upon the enactment of 2022 Iowa Acts, Senate File 487. > 29 2.
