The department shall inform families determined to be 4 eligible for state child care assistance program benefits of 5 all of the following: 6 (1) The additional fee allowed pursuant to paragraph “a” is 7 not a requirement of the state child care assistance program, 8 but is an additional fee a child care provider may choose to 9 charge families participating in the program. 10 (2) If a child care provider chooses to charge a family 11 participating in the program a fee pursuant to paragraph "a" , 12 the family may choose to pay the fee or use a different child 13 care provider. 14 (3) A phone number a family participating in the program may 15 call to file a complaint with the department. 16 Sec. ___. DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SERVICES —— INFORMATIONAL 17 LETTER TO CHILD CARE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM FAMILIES. The 18 department of human services shall send a letter to each family 19 participating in the state child care assistance program as 20 of the effective date of this Act that provides all of the 21 following information to the family: 22 1. A child care provider may charge a family an additional 23 fee that reflects the difference between the state child care 24 assistance reimbursement rate and the child care provider’s 25 private-pay rate. The additional fee is not a requirement of 26 the child care assistance program but an additional fee a child 27 care provider may choose to charge a family participating in 28 the program. 29 2. If a child care provider chooses to charge a family 30 participating in the program an additional fee as described in 31 subsection 1, the family may choose to pay the fee or use a 32 different child care provider. 33 3.
