Section
331.907,
subsections
1
and
3,
Code
2020,

are
amended
to
read
as
follows:

1.
The
annual
compensation
of
the
auditor,
treasurer,
6
recorder,
sheriff,
and
county
attorney
,
and
supervisors
7
shall
be
determined
as
provided
in
this
section
.
The
county
8
compensation
board
annually
shall
review
the
compensation
9
paid
to
comparable
officers
in
other
counties
of
this
state,
10
other
states,
private
enterprise,
and
the
federal
government.
11
In
setting
the
salary
of
the
county
sheriff,
the
county
12
compensation
board
shall
consider
setting
the
sheriff’s
salary
13
so
that
it
is
comparable
to
salaries
paid
to
professional
14
law
enforcement
administrators
and
command
officers
of
the
15
state
patrol,
the
division
of
criminal
investigation
of
the
16
department
of
public
safety,
and
city
police
agencies
in
17
this
state.
The
county
compensation
board
shall
prepare
18
a
compensation
schedule
for
the
specified
elective
county
19
officers
for
the
succeeding
fiscal
year.
A
recommended
20
compensation
schedule
requires
a
majority
vote
of
the
21
membership
of
the
county
compensation
board.

3.
The
board
of
supervisors
shall
determine
the
23
compensation
paid
to
supervisors.
The
board
of
supervisors
24
shall
consider
current
market
factors
when
determining
the
25
compensation
paid
to
supervisors.
The
board
of
supervisors
26
shall
hold
a
public
hearing
regarding
a
proposed
compensation
27
schedule
for
supervisors
before
the
board
of
supervisors
may
28
vote
to
approve
the
proposed
compensation
schedule.
The
board
29
of
supervisors
may
adopt
a
decrease
in
compensation
paid
to
30
supervisors
irrespective
of
the
county
compensation
board’s
31
recommended
compensation
schedule
or
other
approved
changes
in
32
compensation
paid
to
other
elected
county
officers.
A
decrease
33
in
compensation
paid
to
supervisors
shall
be
adopted
by
the
34
board
of
supervisors
no
less
than
thirty
days
before
the
county
