NEW SUBSECTION . 4. The department of education shall 1 annually report to the general assembly by January 15 the 2 activities funded by and expenditures made from the career 3 academy fund during the preceding fiscal year. The report 4 shall summarize the amounts received by each grant recipient; 5 the opportunities made available to students, including but 6 not limited to coursework and work-based learning experiences; 7 outcome measures for students participating in career academies 8 funded through the career academy fund; delivery formats 9 utilized; and the amount of any other state, federal, or 10 private funding used by the grant recipient to supplement 11 career academy fund moneys. > 12 8. Page 24, after line 9 by inserting: 13 < Sec. ___. Section 284.6A, Code 2019, is amended by adding 14 the following new subsection: 15 NEW SUBSECTION . 2A. By January 15 of each year, the 16 department shall collect data from the prior fiscal year 17 regarding the status of computer science in Iowa’s school 18 districts and accredited nonpublic schools and shall summarize 19 the data in a report submitted to the general assembly. The 20 report shall include computer science instruction provided 21 by schools broken down by elementary, middle, and high 22 school, moneys deposited in the fund from public and private 23 sources, the amounts awarded, the impact of the provisions of 24 this section on teachers, and the department’s findings and 25 recommendations. > 26 9.
