(1) Adopt rules, in collaboration with 4 appropriate stakeholders, to require that, by January 5 1, 2018, a facility at which mammography services 6 are performed shall include information on breast 7 density in mammogram reports sent to all mammography 8 patients, pursuant to regulations implementing the 9 federal Mammography Quality Standards Act of 1992, 10 Pub. L. No. 102-539, as amended. The mammogram 11 report shall include information on a patient’s 12 breast density, as categorized by an interpreting 13 physician at the facility based on standards as defined 14 in nationally recognized guidelines or systems for 15 breast imaging reporting of mammography screening, 16 including the breast imaging reporting and data system 17 of the American college of radiology. For patients 18 categorized as having heterogeneously dense breasts or 19 extremely dense breasts, or an equivalent determination 20 by another nationally recognized density gradient 21 system, the report to the patient shall include 22 evidence-based information on dense breast tissue, the 23 increased risk associated with dense breast tissue, 24 and the effects of dense breast tissue on screening 25 mammography. > 26 2.
