NEW SECTION . 825.12 Counseling for children of 4 deportees —— federal reimbursement. 5 1. For purposes of this section, “department” means the 6 department of human services. 7 2. The department shall establish a program to provide 8 counseling services to children eighteen years of age or 9 younger whose family member has been detained or subject to 10 federal deportation proceedings as a result of immigration 11 enforcement actions carried out by state or local law 12 enforcement agencies as required under this chapter. Such 13 counseling shall include emotional, physical, mental, and 14 other support services to assist children in coping with the 15 detention or deportation of a family member. The department 16 shall coordinate with area education agencies to provide such 17 services. 18 3. The department shall seek reimbursement from the United 19 States departments of health and human services, education, and 20 homeland security, or any other appropriate federal agency, for 21 the cost of implementing this section. The department shall 22 carry out any actions necessary to obtain such reimbursement. 23 The department shall reimburse area education agencies for any 24 expenses incurred in implementing this section from moneys 25 received from any federal agency pursuant to this subsection. > 26 2.
