Section 53.8, subsection 1, paragraph a, 3 unnumbered paragraph 1, Code 2018, is amended to read as 4 follows: 5 Upon receipt of an application for an absentee ballot 6 and immediately after the absentee ballots are printed, 7 but not more than twenty-nine days before the election, the 8 commissioner shall mail an absentee ballot to the applicant 9 within twenty-four hours, except as otherwise provided in 10 subsection 3 . The absentee ballot shall be sent to the 11 registered voter by one of the following methods: 12 Sec. ___. Section 53.10, subsection 1, Code 2018, is amended 13 to read as follows: 14 1. Not more than twenty-nine forty-five days before the 15 date of the primary election or the general election, the 16 commissioner shall provide facilities for absentee voting in 17 person at the commissioner’s office. This service shall also 18 be provided for other elections as soon as the ballots are 19 ready, but in no case shall absentee ballots be available under 20 this section more than twenty-nine forty-five days before an 21 election. > 22 2.
