NEW SECTION . 49.29 Voter systems overhaul —— 13 notifications. 14 1. The state commissioner of elections shall, in 15 consultation with the county commissioners of elections and 16 other relevant stakeholder groups, develop and implement a plan 17 to overhaul and modernize statewide voter systems. The state 18 commissioner of elections shall submit an annual report on the 19 plan, including any recommendations for legislative action to 20 allow for the full implementation of the plan, to the general 21 assembly and the chairs and ranking members of the standing 22 committees on state government by December 15 of each year 23 until the state commissioner certifies to the general assembly 24 in an annual report that statewide voter systems in this state 25 have been modernized. 26 2. A county commissioner of elections shall certify to the 27 state commissioner of elections by written notification when 28 all polling places in the county are equipped with electronic 29 poll books or similar technology. 30 3. The state commissioner of elections shall notify the 31 general assembly and the code editor on the date that statewide 32 voter systems have been modernized, as described in subsection 33 1, and that each county commissioner of elections has provided 34 a notice under subsection 2. >> 35 -1- H1238.1804 (2) 87 aw/jh 1/ 2 #1.
