Coordinate engagement among employers, employee 4 organizations, and economic development entities 5 in the local workforce development area. The local 6 workforce development board shall lead efforts to 7 promote engagement among a diverse range of employers 8 and with other entities in the region to do all of the 9 following: 10 (1) Promote business representation on the 11 local workforce development board, particularly for 12 representatives with optimal policymaking or hiring 13 authority of employers whose employment opportunities 14 reflect existing and emerging employment opportunities 15 in the region. 16 (2) Develop effective linkages with employers in 17 the region to support employer utilization of the local 18 workforce development system and to support local 19 workforce investment activities. 20 (3) Ensure that workforce investment activities 21 meet the needs of employers and support economic 22 growth in the region by enhancing communication, 23 coordination, and collaboration among employers, 24 employee organizations, economic development entities, 25 and service providers. 26 (4) Develop and implement proven or promising 27 strategies for meeting the employment and skill needs 28 of workers and employers, such as participating in the 29 establishment of industry and sector partnerships as 30 described under section 260H.7B, subsection 2, that 31 provide the skilled workforce needed by employers 32 in the region and that expand employment and career 33 advancement opportunities for workforce development 34 system participants in in-demand industry sectors or 35 -1- SF2313.3494 (2) 86 je/rj 1/ 2 #1.
