Section 321.385A, Code 2016, is amended 3 to read as follows: 4 321.385A Citation for unlighted headlamp, rear lamp, 5 bicycle or rider lamp, or rear registration plate light. 6 1. a. A citation issued for failure to have 7 headlamps as required under section 321.385 shall first 8 provide for a seventy-two hour period within which the 9 person charged with the violation shall replace or 10 repair the headlamp. 11 b. A citation issued for failure to have rear 12 lamps as required under section 321.387 or a rear 13 registration plate light as required under section 14 321.388 shall first provide for a seventy-two hour 15 period within which the person charged with the 16 violation shall replace or repair the lamps or light. 17 c. A citation issued for failure to have a front 18 lamp or rear lamp on a bicycle or on a bicycle rider 19 as required under section 321.397 shall first provide 20 for a seventy-two hour period within which the person 21 charged with the violation shall replace or repair the 22 lamp or lamps. 23 2. If the person complies with the directive to 24 replace or repair the headlamp, rear lamps, bicycle or 25 rider lamp, or rear registration plate light within the 26 allotted time period, the citation shall be expunged. 27 If the person fails to comply within the allotted time 28 period, the citation shall be processed in the same 29 manner as other citations. 30 3. A citation issued under this section shall 31 include a written notice of replacement or repair which 32 shall indicate the date of replacement or repair and 33 the manner in which the replacement or repair occurred 34 and which shall be returned to the issuing authority 35 -1- SF2224.2670 (3) 86 ns/lh 1/ 2 #1.
