Section 135.190, subsection 1, as 3 enacted by 2016 Iowa Acts, Senate File 2218, section 1, 4 is amended by adding the following new paragraph: 5 NEW PARAGRAPH . 0a. “Licensed health care 6 professional” means the same as defined in section 7 280.16. 8 Sec. ___. Section 135.190, subsection 1, as enacted 9 by 2016 Iowa Acts, Senate File 2218, section 1, is 10 amended by adding the following new subsection: 11 NEW SUBSECTION . 1A. Notwithstanding any other 12 provision of law to the contrary, a licensed health 13 care professional may prescribe an opioid antagonist to 14 a person in a position to assist. 15 Sec. ___. Section 135.190, subsection 3, as enacted 16 by 2016 Iowa Acts, Senate File 2218, section 1, is 17 amended to read as follows: 18 3. A person in a position to assist or a prescriber 19 of an opioid antagonist who has acted reasonably and in 20 good faith shall not be liable for any injury arising 21 from the provision, administration, or assistance in 22 the administration of an opioid antagonist as provided 23 in this section. > 24 2.
