Page 72, after line 20 by inserting: 4 < DIVISION ___ 5 COVERAGE OF SERVICES PROVIDED BY A PHYSICAL THERAPIST, 6 OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST, OR SPEECH PATHOLOGIST 7 Sec. ___. NEW SECTION . 514C.30 Services provided 8 by a physical therapist, occupational therapist, or 9 speech pathologist. 10 1. Notwithstanding the uniformity of treatment 11 requirements of section 514C.6, a policy, contract, or 12 plan providing for third-party payment or prepayment 13 of health or medical expenses shall not impose a 14 copayment or coinsurance amount on an insured for 15 services provided by a physical therapist licensed 16 pursuant to chapter 148A, by an occupational therapist 17 licensed pursuant to chapter 148B, or by a speech 18 pathologist licensed pursuant to 154F that is greater 19 than the copayment or coinsurance amount imposed on 20 the insured for services provided by a person engaged 21 in the practice of medicine and surgery or osteopathic 22 medicine and surgery under chapter 148 for the same 23 or a similar diagnosed condition even if a different 24 nomenclature is used to describe the condition for 25 which the services are provided. 26 2. This section applies to the following classes 27 of third-party payment provider policies, contracts, 28 or plans delivered, issued for delivery, continued, or 29 renewed in this state on or after July 1, 2015: 30 a. Individual or group accident and sickness 31 insurance providing coverage on an expense-incurred 32 basis. 33 b. An individual or group hospital or medical 34 service contract issued pursuant to chapter 509, 514, 35 or 514A. 36 c. An individual or group health maintenance 37 organization contract regulated under chapter 514B. 38 d. A plan established pursuant to chapter 509A for 39 public employees. 40 e. An organized delivery system licensed by the 41 director of public health. 42 3. This section shall not apply to accident-only, 43 specified disease, short-term hospital or medical, 44 hospital confinement indemnity, credit, dental, vision, 45 Medicare supplement, long-term care, basic hospital 46 and medical-surgical expense coverage as defined 47 by the commissioner, disability income insurance 48 coverage, coverage issued as a supplement to liability 49 insurance, workers’ compensation or similar insurance, 50 -1- H1345.1984 (2) 86 pf/rj 1/ 2 #1.
