Section 225C.19A, Code 2015, is amended 4 to read as follows: 5 225C.19A Crisis stabilization programs. 6 The department shall accredit, certify, or apply 7 standards of review to authorize the operation of 8 crisis stabilization programs including crisis 9 stabilization programs operating in a psychiatric 10 medical institution for children pursuant to chapter 11 135H that provide children with mental health, 12 substance abuse, and co-occurring mental health and 13 substance abuse services . In authorizing the operation 14 of a crisis stabilization program, the department 15 shall apply the relevant requirements for an emergency 16 mental health crisis services provider and system 17 under section 225C.19 . A program authorized to operate 18 under this section is not required to be licensed 19 under chapter 135B , 135C , or 135G , or certified under 20 chapter 231C . The commission shall adopt rules to 21 implement this section . The department shall accept 22 accreditation of a crisis stabilization program by a 23 national accrediting organization in lieu of applying 24 the rules adopted in accordance with this section to 25 the program. > 26 2.
