NEW SECTION . 331.910 Request to 4 limit public access to certain peace officer personal 5 information —— internet sites. 6 1. Notwithstanding chapter 22, a peace officer, 7 as defined in section 801.4, may file a written 8 request with a local official on a form prescribed 9 by the department of public safety, in consultation 10 with the Iowa county recorders association and the 11 Iowa state association of assessors, to prohibit the 12 general public from accessing, on an internet site 13 maintained by the local official, the peace officer’s 14 name, residential address, and telephone number, as 15 identified by the peace officer, that are contained 16 in instruments, books, records, indexes, and other 17 information under the authority of the local official. 18 2. Within fifteen days of receiving the request, 19 the local official shall ensure that the peace 20 officer’s information identified by the peace officer 21 under subsection 1 does not appear in search results on 22 an internet site maintained by the local official. 23 3. For purposes of this section, “local official” 24 means a county auditor, county treasurer, county 25 recorder, or local assessor. 26 Sec. 2. IMPLEMENTATION OF ACT. Section 25B.2, 27 subsection 3, shall not apply to this Act. 28 Sec. 3. EFFECTIVE UPON ENACTMENT. This Act, being 29 deemed of immediate importance, takes effect upon 30 enactment. > 31 2.
