DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION —— RADON 5 NOTIFICATION AND TESTING —— REPORT. 6 1. The department of education shall notify each 7 school district and accredited nonpublic school in this 8 state of the risks associated with radon gas and radon 9 progeny at attendance centers. Such notification shall 10 include information on radon testing and mitigation, 11 including relevant statistical data, and shall 12 encourage school districts and accredited nonpublic 13 schools to implement a radon testing and mitigation 14 plan. 15 2. Each school district and accredited nonpublic 16 school in this state shall notify the department of 17 education by December 1, 2014, indicating whether it 18 has a radon testing and mitigation plan in place. Any 19 school district or accredited nonpublic school that 20 does not have a radon testing and mitigation plan in 21 place as of December 1, 2014, shall also notify the 22 department of any plans the district or school has to 23 implement a radon testing and mitigation plan in the 24 future. 25 3. The department of education shall submit a 26 report to the general assembly by January 1, 2015, on 27 the data collected pursuant to subsection 2. > 28 2.
