Section 222.1, Code 2014, is amended to 3 read as follows: 4 222.1 Purpose of chapter —— state resource centers 5 —— special unit at state mental health institute . 6 1. This chapter addresses the public and private 7 services available in this state to meet the needs 8 of persons with an intellectual disability. The 9 responsibility of counties, of the mental health and 10 disability service regions formed by counties, and of 11 the state for the costs and administration of publicly 12 funded services shall be as set out in section 222.60 13 and other pertinent sections of this chapter. 14 1. 2. The Glenwood state resource center and the 15 Woodward state resource center are established and 16 shall be maintained as the state’s regional resource 17 centers for the purpose of providing treatment, 18 training, instruction, care, habilitation, and support 19 of persons with an intellectual disability or other 20 disabilities in this state, and providing facilities, 21 services, and other support to the communities located 22 in the region being served by a state resource center. 23 In addition, the state resource centers are encouraged 24 to serve as a training resource for community-based 25 program staff, medical students, and other participants 26 in professional education programs. A resource center 27 may request the approval of the council on human 28 services to change the name of the resource center for 29 use in communication with the public, in signage, and 30 in other forms of communication. 31 2. 3. A special intellectual disability unit 32 may be maintained at one of the state mental health 33 institutes for the purposes set forth in sections 34 222.88 to 222.91 . > 35 2.
