Senate File 447 H-1348 Amend the amendment, H-1329, to Senate File 447, 1 as amended, passed, and reprinted by the Senate, as 2 follows: 3 1. Page 22, after line 20 by inserting: 4 < Sec. ___. APPROPRIATION —— AMMUNITION. 5 1. There is appropriated from the general fund of 6 the state to the department of public defense for the 7 fiscal year beginning July 1, 2013, and ending June 30, 8 2014, an amount sufficient, to be used for the purchase 9 of the following: 10 a. 15 million rounds of 7.62 x 51 millimeter 11 ammunition. 12 b. 15 million rounds of 223 Remington ammunition. 13 c. 4 million rounds of 9 x 19 millimeter 14 ammunition. 15 d. 2 million rounds of 45 Automatic Colt Pistol 16 ammunition. 17 e. 4 million rounds of 40 Smith and Wesson 18 ammunition. 19 2. The ammunition shall be purchased by the 20 department of public defense by June 30, 2014. 21 3. The ammunition purchased pursuant to this 22 section shall be stored at Camp Dodge under the 23 direction of the director of the department of public 24 defense. 25 4. The ammunition shall be made available for 26 purchase to the members of the Iowa unorganized militia 27 whether or not activated pursuant to section 29A.65. 28 5. The moneys collected from the sale of the 29 ammunition pursuant to this section shall be deposited 30 on a monthly basis in the general fund of the state. 31 6. The ammunition purchased pursuant to this 32 section shall not be sold and distributed to ammunition 33 retailers in the business of selling ammunition 34 prior to July 1, 2014. The ammunition shall be sold 35 at regular wholesale prices as determined by the 36 director of the department of public defense. The 37 sale and distribution of the ammunition shall occur 38 unless a concurrent resolution is approved by the 39 general assembly stopping sale and distribution of 40 such ammunition. If such a concurrent resolution is 41 approved, the department of public defense shall not 42 sell or distribute the ammunition but shall maintain 43 the ammunition until such time a simple resolution 44 is approved by either the senate or the house of 45 representatives approving the sale and distribution of 46 the ammunition at regular wholesale prices. 47 7. Notwithstanding section 8.33, moneys 48 appropriated in this section that remain unencumbered 49 or unobligated at the close of the fiscal year shall 50 -1- H1329.1837 (4) 85 jm/jp 1/ 2 #1.
