amended
to
read
as
follows:

a.
By
January
1,
2013,
the
board
of
directors

of
each
school
district
administering
an
approved

program
for
returning
dropouts
and
dropout
prevention
9
pursuant
to
this
section
shall
implement
an
assessment
10
approved
by
the
department
of
education
that
is
11
designed
to
determine
the
number
of
returning
dropouts
12
and
the
percentage
of
reduction
in
the
number
of
13
dropouts
resulting
from
the
approved
program.
Annually
14
by
July
1
of
the
following
school
year,
the
school
15
board
shall
submit
the
data
collected
pursuant
to
this
16
paragraph
to
the
department
in
the
manner
prescribed
17
by
the
department.
The
department
shall
collect,
18
analyze,
and
report
the
data
received
pursuant
to
this
19
paragraph,
along
with
its
findings
and
recommendations,

in
the
annual
report
submitted
pursuant
to
paragraph
21

”.

department
shall
identify

provide
to
school

districts
a
valid
and
reliable
assessment
that
a
school

district
shall
use
to
determine
the
number
of
returning

dropouts

in
the
number

of
dropouts
identified
by
a
school
district
as
a
result
28
of
the
administration
of
programs
approved
pursuant
to
29
this
section.

Beginning
November
1,
2013,
the
department

shall
submit
an
annual
report
to
the
chairpersons
and
32
ranking
members
of
the
senate
and
house
education
33
committees
general
assembly
that
includes
the
ways
34
school
districts
in
the
previous
school
year
used
35
modified
allowable
growth
approved
under
subsection
1
;
36
identifies,
by
grade
level,
age,
and
district
size,
37
the
students
in
the
dropout
and
dropout
prevention
38
programs
for
which
the
department
approves
a
request;
39
describes
school
district
progress
toward
increasing
40
student
achievement
and
attendance
for
the
students
in
41
the
programs;
and
describes
how
the
school
districts
42
are
using
the
revenues
from
the
modified
allowable
43
growth
to
improve
student
achievement
among
minority
44
subgroups.
