Section 235A.18, subsection 1, paragraph 4 a, Code Supplement 2011, is amended to read as follows: 5 a. Report and disposition data relating to a 6 particular case of alleged child abuse shall be sealed 7 ten years after the initial placement of the data 8 in the registry unless good cause be shown why the 9 data should remain open to authorized access. If a 10 subsequent report of an alleged case of child abuse 11 involving the child named in the initial data placed in 12 the registry as the victim of abuse or a person named 13 in the data as having abused a child is received by the 14 department within this ten-year period, the data shall 15 be sealed ten years after receipt of the subsequent 16 report unless good cause be shown why the data should 17 remain open to authorized access. However, such 18 report and a person named in the initial data placed 19 in the registry as having abused a child shall have 20 the person’s name removed from the registry if that 21 person has not had a subsequent case of alleged abuse 22 which resulted in the person’s name being placed in the 23 registry as the person responsible for the abuse within 24 the ten-year period. Report and disposition data shall 25 be made available to the department of justice if the 26 department requests access to the alleged child abuse 27 records for purposes of review by the prosecutor’s 28 review committee or commitment of sexually violent 29 predators under chapter 229A . > 30 2.
